FAQ/rules
basics.
Yongen-Jaya is a small, invite-only roleplay based on Persona 5 run by Coco, Nick, and Michelle! We wanted to make a game based on a series we love that we can all play in at a more leisurely pace. Most of us are in other games, after all! Is there AC? There will be an optional monthly check-in. All you need to do is give us a brief summary of any significant CR progress/regression and important events your character has experienced. This is so that we know how to tailor the plot moving forward. There will be incentives for checking in with us as well--stay tuned! Do I need to be canon familiar? Nope! If you need help with anything, let any of us know and we'd be more than happy to explain terminology and mechanics to you! What does the game pacing/schedule look like? Pacing-wise, the game will be slow to medium. As for its schedule, we'll have an event every month, and Palace events will be spread out over the course of every three months. (This is subject to change according to player preferences and mod availability.) apps.
Canon characters and OCs are allowed! Keep in mind before choosing your character(s) that they will be AU'd and will be throughout the duration of the game. Each player is allowed up to 3 characters max. Who can't I play? Anyone from the Persona 5 series. Is there an app? Yes, but it will be simpler than the standard game app. Its primary function is to let us see what sort of AU you've mapped out for your character, as well as how your character's personality will differ from their canon counterpart's. gameplay.
If you want them to, sure (though what your group wants to be called is up to you guys)! You also have the option to make your character a Confidant. I'm canonblind, so what's the difference between a Persona user and a Confidant? What if I just want to be an ordinary civilian? Just let us know! How about character death? If you really wanna go there...character death is entirely possible. You have the option to have your character resurrected up to two times. After that is permadeath. If you want to permadeath your character right away, though, just let us know and we'll work something out! What if I have to hiatus/drop? If you need to hiatus, your character will be on autopilot. If you have any other ideas of what you want for your character during that time, just let us know and we can work something out. Drops for Confidants: Your character will go back to living their day to day life. Their memories of their time since Awakening will be erased. Drops for Persona users: Their connection to their Persona will be severed and they will go back to living their day to day life. Their memories of their time since their awakening will be erased. What if I want to switch my character from Confidant to Persona user (or vice versa)? From Persona user to Confidant: The character's link to their Persona will be severed and they will be notified of their status change. From Confidant to Persona user: The Confidant will be compelled to face their Shadow self, which will result in their Persona awakening. Will there be any other rewards outside of doing the optional check-ins? Yes! For Persona users, the more they interact with Confidants, the more powers they can unlock. Confidants will come with a Confidant Skill (i.e. Hifumi Togo's Togo System in Persona 5, which allows you to swap current party with backup members during anyone's turn) which each individual Persona user can unlock. Persona users can also unlock their Ultimate Persona (i.e. Arsene becomes Satanael) by obtaining "pieces". The number of pieces required to unlock one's Ultimate Persona depends on how many Confidants will be in-game. Note that these comment totals are cumulative and don't need to span over the course of one single thread. For example, you can use five 5-comment threads to meet the 25 comment minimum. Comment totals refer to comments made by you. What is the Metaverse? The Metaverse is best viewed as a separate plane to reality, and it's where Palaces, Mementos, and the Velvet Room are located. And...what are those places? A Palace is the manifestation of a person's "distorted desires". It's Persona 5's variation on a dungeon, and Persona users (with the help of their Confidants) will have the opportunity to explore Palaces created by the mods as events. The goal of exploring and completing Palaces is to change the heart of the person who owns it. Mementos is the Palace of the general public, and is possible to explore. Characters will be able to take on requests that will bring them into Mementos and change hearts of targets that aren't big enough for their own palaces, if they so desire. Okay, but the Velvet Room...? The Velvet Room is a unique location Persona users will find themselves in. There, they'll meet the Dealer... and learn a little bit more about Personas and what their goal is. More information about this will be coming in the future. Changing hearts? The main thrust of the game is to change the hearts and minds of those with Palaces or who can be found in Mementos. This is done by stealing their "treasure", a mental manifestation of their warped/distorted/twisted desires in a very literal sense. Stealing someone's treasure is very risky, but it's a good way to get someone to confess to their crimes... for persona users.
Whatever you want, fam. It can be a canon Persona, or you can make one up. Go wild. How many skills can my Persona have? The maximum is 8 skills at a time. We aren't going to keep track of your skills or progress, but keep in mind that like Pokemon, your Personas will need time to level up and learn new moves. If you're going with a canon persona, stick to their move set. If you're making your own Persona, we recommend picking a canon persona and using that move set. Do I need to get my Persona approved? OOCly, we'll have a post with a form for you to fill out for every new Persona you acquire throughout the game. We just want to know more information about what Personas everyone has. for confidants.
Confidants won't be able to enter Palaces and fight Shadows like Persona users can. The Confidant route is more SoL-focused than the Persona user's, but it is also more investigative and involved in finding new targets for the Persona users. They can still communicate with Persona users during Palace events via the in-game network if outside help is necessary, though this will be up to players' discretion. What kind of Confidant Skill can I have? Confidant Skills are catered towards aiding Persona users during battle. An example of a possible skill may be to increase physical damage for a certain period of time for the Persona users who unlocked this skill. Here is a link to a list Persona 5's Confidant skills, in case you need ideas! Don't worry about the rank ups, we won't have that mechanic in game; just a general skill will be fine. Each Confidant gets one skill. Do I need to get my skill approved? OOCly, yes. Similarly to Persona users, we will have a form for you to fill out so we can keep track of what Confidant Skills are in game. rules.
